Mel Patzwald, Managing Director of the Airport Travel Centre,
has been involved in the aviation and travel industry for over two
decades. Formerly with Lufthansa German Airlines in management
roles for nearly 10 years that took him for lengthy periods of time
to Lima/Peru, Madrid/Spain, Tel Aviv/ Israel and of course
Frankfurt, Germany. Back in Australia now for over 17 years,
he initially hooked up with Flight Centre during their most

managers.
He subsequently spent 4 years in the role of State Manager of
the Corporate Traveller (now FCm) the Flight Centre corporate
division.

Worldtravel/BTI as State Manager of South Australia and the
Northern Territory and 6 months in a National Sales Manager
role with Phil Hoffmann Travel.

country and a sought-after speaker on future developments low-cost
carriers, marketing of travel,
and opportunities in a non-commission environment.
He is passionate about his newest venture and excited by the swag

Mel is a member of several committees and a Director of the

The Alice Springs
to Darwin Railway Project is the largest infrastructure project
undertaken in Australia during the past 50 plus years. ADrail, the
design and construction contractor, is a joint venture between
Halliburton/ KelloggBrown & Root Pty Ltd, John Holland Pty Ltd,
Barclay Mowlem Construction Limited and Macmahon Contractors Pty
Ltd. The travel logistics of this enormous 1420 kilometre, $1.4
Billion Dollar project were successfully secured and managed by a
team led by Mel Patzwald during the three and a half year
construction period. After securing the tender, Mel, on our behalf,
negotiated market leading arrangements with airlines, hotels and
car-hire companies. He is a truly driven and inspiring
professional, who assisted in guiding us through a multitude of
